„While teaching my first MBPM course, I was able to experience how well the exercises build on one another and that the course is particularly suitable for participants with pain. I was very touched by the degree of openness and trust with which the participants got involved in the process. I am very grateful for this shared experience.“
Maria Pitz-Kubik, participant in the 2019 MBPM certification course
We are looking forward to our next certification training in the Breathworks method (MBPM, Mindfulness-Based Pain Management) at the Mindfulness Institute Ruhr in cooperation with Dr. Colette Power and Vidyamala Burch.
We offer a compact teacher training delivered in two online live modules for MBSR, MBCT, MBCL or MSC teachers who have participated in a three-day introductory seminar in the Breathworks method.
It contains all elements of Mindfulness-Based Pain Management (including detailed teaching materials and a course participant’s manual for the later MBPM courses). The training enables the participants to lead the 8-week MBPM course independently and competently. For certification by Breathworks UK, the first MBPM course is taught under supervision.
Course of training and requirements for participation:
- A successfully completed training as a mindfulness teacher (MBSR, MBCT, MBCL, MSC) and teaching experience with 8-week courses
- Participation in a three-day introductory weekend with Vidyamala Burch or a Senior Breathworks Teacher
- In preparation for the 2 certification modules, it is necessary to practice the meditations of the Breathworks method (such as the breath-based body scan, loving kindness meditation, treasure of joy, connectedness meditation, etc.) and to keep a diary of the experiences - this preparation should start in Sept., we will send the exact preparation guidelines for those who are interested in this training
- Participation in the complete certification training consisting of TWO modules– this also includes the yoga practice of the Breathworks approach. In this way, the requirement to attend a separate yoga weekend, as is necessary and customary in the UK, is fulfilled.
- Supervision of the exercise experiences (with the help of standardized handouts) before, between and after the certification modules – there is a German and English speaking supervisor for this
- In order to obtain a Breathworks Trainer certificate from Breathworks UK, it is necessary to teach an 8-week MBPM course under supervision.
- The certification course should have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants, although not all participants necessarily have to suffer from a chronic pain disorder.
The seminar language is English with translation into German.
